RCMS automatically produces bar-code numbers when Assets, Asset Packages or Quantitied Masters are entered. These bar-codes may be printed using a standard bar-code printer and is most likely the method you have chosen to use in your set up. We have added an option allowing users to scan virtually any bar-code they wish to use. For example a user may wish to scan a pre-printed UPC bar-code that is printed on some packaged merchandise, the manufacturers serial number bar-code on the back of a rental asset, a pre-existing bar-code from a previous system or even a pre-printed bar-code label. You can use any one or all of these methods interchangeably. To do this, RCMS has to look through six different fields in three different databases for an exact match each time you shoot a bar-code! The result is faster and easier asset identification and administration.

Barcode Input Devices (Wireless and Non-Wireless)
RCMS supports a wide variety of barcode input devices. Because we use standard barcode symbology, you may use just about any input device. Besides supporting wired laser scanners, we have also developed firmware for the Symbol PDT (Portable Data Terminal), both wireless and non-wireless that run under the Palm OS. We have firmware for Physical Inventory, Order Fulfillment and Batch Return Processing.

Barcode Label Formats
RCMS supports three sizes of barcode labels. This will give users in different industries a wide range of options on how they may use bar code labels. For example, "Large" labels should be ideal for boxes containing assets stored on high shelves.

The "Small" bar code label is excellent for placing on even the smallest of parts. This label measures .5" x 1.5" on the Zebra printer.

The "Medium" bar code label dimensions are 1.25" x 2".

The "Large" bar code label dimensions are 3.25" x 5.5".

We have also given the user the ability to select optional fields to appear on these labels. Both the 35 character Description field and your Company Name can now be printed on both the "Medium" and the "Large" bar-code labels.
